How it works

Convert in four steps.

No convert button, no page reload and no upload. Pick a category, choose your units and the answer appears as you type.

1

Pick a category

Length, weight, temperature, area, volume, speed, data, pressure and more. Each one loads its own set of units.

2

Choose the units

Set what you are converting from and to. Hit the swap arrow to flip the two around in a tap.

3

Type a value

Enter a number and the answer updates as you type. No convert button to press, no page reload.

4

Read the whole table

Below the answer, the same value is shown in every unit in the category at once, so you get the full picture.

What it converts

Thirteen categories, every unit you need.

From everyday metres, litres and pounds to technical pascals, kilowatt-hours and gibibytes, each category carries the units people actually use.

Where it helps

Everyday conversions, sorted.

Cooking from a foreign recipe

Turn cups into millilitres, ounces into grams and Fahrenheit into Celsius so a recipe written for another country actually works in your kitchen.

DIY, building and measuring

Switch between feet and metres, inches and centimetres, or square feet and square metres when a plan, a tool or a shop uses units you do not.

Travel and driving

Read km/h as mph, litres as gallons and Celsius as Fahrenheit so speed limits, fuel and the weather make sense wherever you are.

Science and engineering homework

Convert joules, pascals, hertz and newton-based units for physics and chemistry, with exact SI factors so your working checks out.

Files, storage and bandwidth

Tell the difference between a decimal gigabyte and a binary gibibyte, and convert bits to bytes when a download speed and a file size do not seem to match.

Shipping and logistics

Convert kilograms to pounds, tonnes to short tons and cubic metres to cubic feet when a carrier or a customer quotes in a unit you do not use.

For businesses

Units baked into your product?

A quick conversion is easy. Handling units consistently across a catalogue, a factory floor, a logistics system or an app, so nothing is ever off by a factor of a thousand, is a different job. That is the kind of software we build at Techliphant, shaped around how your business actually runs.

Unit converter FAQs

Common questions.

It is a free online tool that changes a measurement from one unit to another, for example kilometres to miles, kilograms to pounds or Celsius to Fahrenheit. You pick a category, choose the two units, type a value, and it works out the answer instantly and shows the same value in every other unit as well.

Thirteen categories: length, weight and mass, temperature, area, volume, speed, time, digital storage, pressure, energy, power, frequency and angle. Each one carries the units people use most, from everyday ones like metres, litres and pounds to technical ones like nautical miles, pascals, kWh and gibibytes.

Every factor is the exact international or SI definition where one exists, so the numbers match any reputable reference to many decimal places. A mile is exactly 1,609.344 metres, a pound is exactly 0.45359237 kilograms, and so on. The display rounds long results for readability, but the maths behind them is done at full precision.

Multiply the Celsius value by 9/5 and add 32. So 20°C is 20 × 9/5 + 32 = 68°F, and 100°C is 212°F. To go the other way, subtract 32 and multiply by 5/9. Temperature is the one category that uses a formula rather than a simple factor, because the scales do not share a zero point, and the tool handles that for you.

A megabyte is 1,000,000 bytes (decimal, powers of 1000) and a mebibyte is 1,048,576 bytes (binary, powers of 1024). Storage makers and networks usually quote decimal MB and GB, while operating systems often report binary MiB and GiB but label them MB and GB. That mismatch is why a "1 TB" drive shows as roughly 931 GB in your file manager. The converter lists both so you can see the gap.

The US gallon (about 3.785 litres) and the Imperial or UK gallon (about 4.546 litres) are different sizes, and the same split runs through quarts, pints and fluid ounces. The tool labels each one, so pick the US or UK version to match your source. If a recipe or spec does not say, US measures are the more common default online.

The whole converter runs in your browser with no server call, so once the page has loaded it keeps working even if your connection drops. It is built to work on a phone, tablet or computer, and the number pad comes up automatically on mobile when you tap a value.

No. The conversion happens entirely on your own device in JavaScript. Nothing you type is uploaded, logged or stored anywhere, so it is safe to use for private or commercial figures.

Yes, completely. There is no sign-up, no account, no watermark and no limit on how many conversions you do. Use it as much as you like, for personal or commercial work.

Private by design: this converter runs entirely in your browser. Every calculation happens on your own device in JavaScript, so nothing you type is uploaded to a server or stored anywhere. That makes it safe for private or commercial figures, and it keeps working even if your connection drops.
