Common questions.
JPG cannot store transparency, so any see-through areas are filled with a background colour, white by default, which you can change before converting. If you need to keep the transparency, stay with PNG or convert to WebP instead.
Usually a lot. A photo or a detailed screenshot often drops to a tenth of the PNG size at around 85 percent quality, with no difference you would notice. Flat graphics with large blocks of one colour save less, and PNG can even be the smaller format for those.
JPG is a lossy format, so some detail is dropped to make the file smaller. Use the quality slider to decide how much. Around 85 to 90 percent looks the same as the original to most eyes. Keep the PNG if you plan to keep editing and re-saving the image.
JPG compression struggles with sharp edges, so small text and thin lines can pick up a soft halo. Raise the quality setting, or keep screenshots as PNG, which is built for exactly that kind of image.
